Pineview Elementary students participated in their 4th annual, Pinwheels for Peace Day on Sept. 21st.
Pineview Elementary students created pinwheels of all shapes and sizes. The pinwheel art reflected what the students felt represented peace and happiness to them as an individual. As part of the creation process, the students engaged in singing a song about peace with the direction of Pineview Music teacher, Susan Thompson. Students then assemble their pinwheels and planted them next to Pineview Elementary as a public statement and art exhibit/installation.
Pinwheels for Peace is an art installation project started in 2005 by two Florida art teachers as a way for students to express their feelings about what is happening in the world and in their lives. In the first year, groups in over 1,325 locations throughout the world were spinning pinwheels on September 21st – there were approximately 500,000 pinwheels spinning throughout the world.
