Kelly Walsh High School sophomore Danny Villalobos was recently honored as the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Youth of the Year winner for the state of Wyoming. Youth of the Year is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program for Club members. Participants are recognized for their service, academic success, strong moral character, life goals, and their poise and speaking ability. Danny submitted several written essays, gave an oral speech, and participated in live interviews in Cheyenne at the state competition.
As the state winner, Danny won $5,000 toward college expenses and a full scholarship to the University of Wyoming. Danny had also previously won a $1,250 scholarship as the local winner.

At the February 23 NCSD Board of Trustees meeting Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming’s Chief Professional Officer Ashley Bright introduced Danny to the Board and shared some of his accomplishments. Check out the video below:
Danny will represent the state of Wyoming at the regional Youth of the Year competition in Texas in June.
