Young Authors Celebration Honors Wyoming’s K-12th Grade Winners.

Picasso said, “Everything you can imagine is real”. Fairytales, sports, history, and a pesky hamster named “Oreos” who doesn’t quite grasp the concept of staying in his cage were among many intriguing topics which provided insight into the imagination and creativity of the State Young Authors award winners.

YAphoto2Each participant received an award and certificate for their winning entry.

 The State Young Authors Celebration held at Star Lane Center on September 13th, 2014 honored Wyoming’s Kindergarten thru 12th grade winners. All winners participated in a local competition prior to the state competition. First place winners in each category and grade level are forwarded to the state competition.


Ashtyn Harmsen, 1st place winner in 8th grade from CY Middle School, hopes to one day become an animator or story artist for Disney. YA9

Ashtyn listens as NCSD Language Arts teacher, George Vlastos, shares an excerpt from her winning Fiction entry “The Ring”. YA3

Harriet Norcross, Kelly Walsh High School student, won 1st place for her entry “The Clock Fairies”.  An avid reader, Harriet hopes to one day be the “next” JK Rowling. YA6

Star Lane student Hunter Hout enjoys expressing her creativity through various forms of creative arts, specifically painting. Hunter won 1st place in Poetry for her entry “What Matters Most”.
