Building the Next Class of Chinese Language Learners

In its first year at Paradise Valley Elementary School, 42 kindergarten students are immersed in Mandarin Chinese and parents have indicated very positive responses to their children’s learning. Seeing this success, the Natrona County School District is gathering interest to build next year’s classroom in its Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program.

With the approval of the Board of Trustees, Mandarin Chinese will be offered at Paradise Valley in both kindergarten and first grade next school year. In addition, district officials are exploring the option of offering a Spanish DLI program for kindergarten and first grade at Park Elementary.

Parents of incoming kindergarten students for 2014-15 school year can learn more about the DLI offerings through NCSD at a series of informational meetings over the next several weeks.
